GROUP LEYENDA The Leyenda Group was established in 1988. Its music career was astonishing. They won a huge number of prizes and performed on various stages of La Paz (the seat of the Bolivia’s government). Couple of years later, two members Silvano Mariaca and Carlos Luna left and settled in the Czech Republic and the United States of America, countries where they performed their music art.
It is nothing exceptionable to see in every little village a group of young boys sitting on the sidewalk, singing and playing some instrument. Later in the afternoon or night you can meet them in the quarters far from the cities... La Paz is neither Santa Cruz nor Cochabamba. I want to say, the weather is cold here. But besides cold and foggy evenings there are young people who play their favorite songs fighting against cold and pain of inner flame of love that parents do not understand. Are they urged by love, grief and nostalgy of the land that was deserted by their parents? In many cases yes. But there are many others who always seek beauty, and fight against time that distresses everything. And in the solitude of their beds or tagging down the streets they weave the verses of love. Anger, disappointment and little hate. One group better plays instruments, the second one is more experienced in feelings, the next one - there is always some – aims its effort to texts. Here we have words, here we have music. And now just explore the life and know the world or simply to punish a faithless woman who preferred money to love. And then they are the ocean and their sweetheart is just rain that does not know its depth... In this way taquirari “Como Llovizna en Mar”, and sicuri “Perdiste Tú” were created; her tenderness was melted as dawning. Or slow chuntunqui surrounded by fogg and wind: “No Te Alejes” (“Do not Move Away”); but she did and only music and memories remained. These are three titles of the songs, which – among others - the LEYENDA Group performs: Silvano Mariaca, Freddy Rocha, Carlos and Gerardo Luna, Ramiro Escóbar. Why Leyenda? Because they are seeking their roots, because they do not want to be just plain boys from a town with their love, political and family experiences. They want to remind us that we have our own past that gives us strengths, color, rhythm, feelings. They want, while being young, fight against aliens, against anonymous solitude that is called City, in their own way. They want... who knows what more do they want?
